I had photographed the Barnegat Lighthouse on many occasion from the mainland side and obviously it is a tremendous subject from any perspective. However after several visits I decided that I was going to photograph it from a fresh perspective, a place I had never been to, Island Beach State Park. This park is a barrier island at the southern end of Seaside Heights.
I decided one winter morning to take the trek down to the park to shoot Old Barney, little did I know that I would have to walk a good 2 miles on soft sand and dunes to to finally get to this spot. Well, as fantastic a subject as Barney is I quickly became more fascinated with these gorgeous dunes and made them a prominent part of each shot! Sometimes we need to take a look beyond the obvious to see the real beauty around us.
Sounds like you got your exercise for the day! What an interesting composition…love all the stakes sticking out of the sand only to lead back to the distant lighthouse.
Beautiful.
Love all the little details throughout the photo. Yes to participating…I’ve been doing it since last year!
Beautiful details.
Lovely shot, Mike! Sounds like it was one perfect day to find something beyond the ordinary 😉
Not keeping out the photographers. Great dunes.
