The Breadline…

Art

The creative artistry present at the Grounds For Sculpture is mesmerizing. Around each turn in this beautiful outdoor exhibit is an experience that is never forgotten.

One such exhibit is the Depression Bread Line. Crafted by world renowned sculptor George Segal in 1999. Five men, cast in bronze, waiting for handouts…  Depicting a scene all too common during the Great Depression. This fascinating and thought provoking display is only one of hundreds scattered over this wonderful park.

Here are just a few photos to give you a sense of the significance of this piece….

I don’t know what took me so long to go to The Grounds for Sculpture. It is one of the most fascinating places I’ve ever been to and actually can’t wait to go back. I’m only sorry I went in the latter part of the fall season and have to wait so long for spring to capture more amazing shots. Stay tuned because I will be posting more on the blog shortly.

Thanks again for stopping by!

Please feel free to go over to my website for more of my work and the opportunity to purchase any of the photos over there…
