Although baseball playoffs are in full swing and this term is usually used as a player with a strong arm this post has nothing to do with baseball.
This cannon (used during the Revolutionary War) has been sticking out of the ground on the campus of Princeton University since 1840. It was placed in the ground an effort to prevent students of nearby Rutgers University from claiming it’s ownership and bringing it back to New Brunswick.
Unfortunately it hasn’t stopped Rutgers students from occasionally invading the Princeton campus and spray painting it scarlet red to signify it’s ownership.
In the background you see Nassau Hall, which , at one time, served as the Capital of the Unites States in 1783. It was also here that the Continental Congress received word of the Treaty of Paris which ended the Revolutionary War between the US and Britain.
