Themed 365 Project

In reality this house is not exactly isolated but I felt that the B+W and crop gave it a distinct feeling of the only house on the water. What do you think… a wider perspective might help convey a better sense of isolation?

Little processing was needed to get this result…..Cropped initially, cloned out some electrical wires then converted to B+W in Lightroom and finally sent it to Topaz Adjust for some detail work and a little pop.

  1. If a wider perspective only included more water to the left, I’d say yes. If it served to move the house more to the middle, I’d say leave it alone. JMHO. 🙂

  2. I like this view and it looks pretty isolated. I might wonder what it would look like from the other shore looking towards the front. I guess that depends on what is behind it. I like tha b/w it helps convey the feeling.

  3. I like this photo as is. I think because you named it Isolation, we believe it without having to play with the wider angle… we might then lose some of the interesting detail For instance, is that a sewer pipe going into the water? THAT is enough to make me believe this is an isolated home!

  4. I think you did a great job of editing the picture to portray Isolation. If you hadn’t told me, I would have thought it was a single house on the shore. Nice work of converting to B&W, too.

  5. I can feel the isolation and loneliness this house is feeling…both the composition and processing lends itself nicely to this theme!

  6. I agree with Val – if the wider perspective is water to the left then I would try including that. However I think your b&w processing helps to convey a feeling of isolation.
