I really like this version too. The tones and contrast produced in this software are fantastic.

  1. What great shadows in this image. Thanks for sharing the NIK software info Mike, I`m trying the trial version and it does work really well. Which program do you use to create your HDR effect, I dont have anything that gets near your results?

    1. Jen,
I use Photomatix and have just started to get results that are appealing, 6 to 9 months after buying it. Slow learning curve. If you have any questions please let me know.

  2. I like both of these Mike and thanks for the undeserved Kudos, but I have to ask
It is probably just me but I find that the B&W/ Silver one is more than a little threatening for a playground, which isn’t present in the coloured version.

    1. I have to agree with you Ron, it does take some of the playfulness out of it. I debated whether to convert it, I guess I did it to see the results. In any event, I’m really drawn to the contrasts and tones produced by this software in this experiment.

  3. The bright colors really draw me into this fun scene, but I do have to say the black and white looks like an artist’s interpretation….I love those strong shadows and bright highlights and the way the play equipment seems to glow!

  4. Smashing black & white! The contrast is superb and it brings out the shadows and small branches so well. I wish NIK’s stuff was within my price range. I’ve seen some great work done with their Color Efex and Viveza too.
