Top 10 in 2010…..#1

With much thanks to WordPress.com and my loyal readers this is the shot that garnered the most views and comments.

Straight out of the camera, this shot required the least amount of processing out of all my Top 10 in 2010. The early morning light was just perfect for the shot and I was glad I was there to capture it.

Thanks for a Great 2010!

At the time I wasn’t too satisfied with this shot and after reviewing your comments there are a few aspects of the shot that I would change, mostly having to do with the results of tonemapping. Items that should be darker, such as the plants hanging off the roof, can be changed if processed again. I guess I’m nitpicking but I actually like this shot more now then when I processed it.

One of my favorites of the year…so unexpected and so simple. Saw this as I was walking my daughter around for Halloween… looked down, saw it and snapped it…bang…Keeper!

Thanks for all the great comments about this one. It’s always great to hear them to reinforce my feelings about certain shots.

I was surprised at this one, I don’t think it’s the best of my cold series but you guys liked it so that’s all that matters. As I look at this shot I definitely went too heavy on the sharpening but overall I’m fairly happy with it. And the good thing about digital photography is that I can go back and reprocess the image to my liking.

So that bring s me to the question of the day…..How often do you reedit your photos? If you have a favorite b4 and after reedit that you’d like to share leave a link to it in the comment section.

Like I said in the original post…sometimes impromptu works the best. I think the B+W emphasizes the simplicity of the shot as well as the skin in my daughters face and the highlights in her hair. Many people agreed!

I have to admit I had, at the very best, mixed feelings about this shot. Granted I do like the colors(maybe satisfying Ron was more rewarding) but there’s something about the composition that doesn’t do it for me. The overwhelming response was positive and that’s  most important!

I took this shot just over a year ago and almost didn’t remember it. All comments indicated that you liked the processing and the colors. I still enjoy those parts of the shot along with the texture but I do wish I had cropped differently. If I remember the original composition it did not lend itself to too many options for better cropping, my only choice would be to go back and position myself better at the scene. The weather is looking warmer on Saturday so maybe I’ll go back then.

Let me ask you a question, when you first come to my blog does it take some time to load? More than usual if you compare other sites? For some reason it does on my computer. I hope it doesn’t get worse because I don’t want to start a new blog for 2011, I prefer to keep this one. Please let me know!

I really like this one as well. Some comments suggested that a more prominent foreground subject was needed but my intent here was to use color as the main subject and certainly there’s plenty of that in the foreground.

This is also a shot that was made possible with my Sigma 10-20mm lens. I’m real impressed with this lens, the more and more I use it the more I love the expansiveness and contrast it produces. This Siggy does take some time and concentration to keep distortion to a minimum but it’s well worth it.

Top 10 of 2010….#9

#9 is a followup to another Top 10 photo and with the exception of one element in this shot I almost like this shot better. All of your comments were well appreciated and thought provoking, I never thought of cloning out the fishing boat ( and on occasion have done so) and I didn’t really even look at the reflections in the water. It’s amazing what a different set of eyes will see!

I do have to say this is one of my favorites this year, the lighting is awesome. Tomorrow will be #8…..

Top 10 of 2010…

To recap a great year here at How I See It, I decided to repost the top 10 photo’s of 2010. This is based on stats compiled by WordPress in relation to the number of comments generated for each individual post. I think this is a fair indication of the quality of each shot, plus a couldn’t figure out how to do it easily based on views. I will post each shot, starting at #10 and provide a brief comment for each.

Let’s start with #10

After reviewing the comments it seems that most of you liked the line of the fence since it led you to the horizon. I agree but I wish there was a secondary subject to grab your attention as well. Most of you  said that the sunrise itself was enough but I wish there was a more prominent tree or something just right of center. I believe it would have made this shot even better.  Thanks for your feedback on the original post.

And there you have it, coming in at #10, my post for the theme of seasonal.
