Fired Up…Part 3…

Processed this one the same as the last two except I added a Lightroom preset called Yesteryear 1. I did tweak the saturation of colors and added a vignette to finish it off. I like the look!

Fired Up….Part Two…

Processed this old school for me…. slight lens correction in Lightroom, exported 3 exposures to Photomatix, many adjustments in Lightroom and finished with the Topaz Adjust plug-in to bring out slight details. The best of the individual shots.

On Reaching My Goals…

Back to some people shots after a long layoff of portraits. These are slightly OOF due to the limitations of my Canon XTI, but all in all not too bad in low light.

Thanks for all the views over the last week or so and love those comments!

Impact B+W…

This is Brian Kirk from a recent Brian Kirk and the Jirks concert and I found inspiration for this B+W from a post on the PhotoExtract photography site. I followed the workflow while incorporating my own adjustments to come up with this final product. Emulating the process is fairly easy so if you have any shots that you think would look great with this kind of processing why not post a link in the comments section for all to see. Come on, show us your creativity. Yes Ron you too!

365: Square…

Playing with shallow depth in this square shot of my wife. I decided to mount my 50mm 1.8 lens and make my wife aggravated:) Contrary to how she feels about me taking her picture I happen to like this conversion using Silver Efex Pro.

On another note I hope everyone had a great thanksgiving with family and friends, we sure did!

365: Street Photography….

Wow, it’s been quite some time since my last post and since that post I haven’t really had an opportunity to get out and shoot or read any of your blogs and for that I  apologize. Hopefully, over the next few weeks I can redirect my attention to more posting and more perusing of your blogs. Thanks to those who continue to visit my blog!

This shot was taken during our outing to the San Genarro festival in NYC. I can’t believe I over-looked this shot because I really like the result. I did add a vignette to enhance an already good shot and I think it really adds to the mood and location of the shot.

365: Alive…

Well, unfortunately not but a pretty good impersonation. Yesterday my sister-in-law had a grand opening for her new dance studio, Next Level Dance Academy. The opening was a fantastic day of performances, food and music.

I would like to wish Laura and Gina the best of luck in their new venture. If the grand opening is any indication of the future, you guys will do just fine. Best of Luck!

365: Critiqued…

Over at Google+ there is a large group of photographers that will also critique any  shots posted and this portrait is a result of the fine recommendations from a variety of people. The original can be seen here. Basically I eliminated a bright white spot in the upper left of the background and also softened the skin in Lightroom. Oh, I also utilized a bit of noise reduction as well. I think it’s worthy of posting again.

365: Dessert….

Now you can’t go to the San Gennaro Festival and not have any Zeppoles.

365: Faceless Portraits…

Can’t get enough of these B+W’s. Just love the look of them.

Looking back on this shot I wish I would have moved to the left a bit more to minimize distortion from the wide angle lens. As it is I had to go into Elements and use the free transform tool to push some pixels to the right.

You Can Just Tell…

… when the lighting is just perfect. Yes and it made this shot perfect for B+W as the late day sun was much too warm to give a real good look to this shot in color. Again, I think it’s a matter of personal preference but the high contrast does it for me.

365: Joy

Tammy took notice in that I don’t post very many people pictures and she’s right. But I’m vowing to take more over the next few months and hopefully they’ll be good enough to post here. BTW, just a quick thank you to all who have been paying attention to my little blog here on the net. I never imagined that I would have 50-60 people a day paying attention to my pictures. Thanks!!!!

I know that the dogs in my families lives truly bring joy to them each and every day. This can be evidenced in this shot of my niece and Rocky from this past weekend! As much as I initially like the previous shot, I think I like this better. What do you think?

PS…Looking at this on the net and I’m not happy! Compression killed this shot!

The Letter D: Dogs…

Two candid shots of my brother-in-law and niece with one of their dogs, Rocky.

These two shots were taken pretty quickly and I didn’t have a chance to change the aperture to something larger so there slightly OOF. Damn, maybe next time!

Hey Dad….

….when are we gonna put a fish in here?

Hope your having a great weekend!

Hey Dad….

….you sure you know what your doing? Couldn’t help but post this shot from a few months ago……kids face, priceless.

Hope everyone enjoys the long weekend!

Snapseed Experiment #2…

Just another quick application of the Snapseed processing program. In this shot I utilized the crop tool, drama tool and the organic frames tool. Again not bad for quick processing. Too bad it doesn’t have a spot removal tool or sharpening setting!

A Little Bit of Interaction….

I caught my daughter interacting with my sisters dog Milo(she absolutely loves dogs) then she caught me so we have a sort of dual interaction thing going on??????? Anyway, I love the natural look to this shot, yes Ron, I know it’s missing one critical part but I love it anyhow. I added a slight grain effect to give it a little more style and finish it off.

That’s Entertainment…

It was recital weekend and my oldest did her best to entertain us during her 3 dances. She is a tremendous dancer and we couldn’t be more proud. Great job Loriana!  We love you!

Boys will be Boys….

Quick post tonight….brothers will do unto brothers!

My Point Is….

….I got a few laughs watching my girls interact with Tyler and Devon. When they were finished playing my older daughter Loriana said “I wish we had a younger brother”…….. the answer…..NO!

Just Enough Time for a Few Casual Shots….

My photography time hasn’t increased at all but I did have a few moments while grilling to catch my daughters and our neighbors boys playing in the back yard. They were having a great time throwing around a football and goofing off just before dinner. I managed to quickly set this one up before the action resumed, I think the result is pretty good.

After quite a few attempts to get a strange color cast under control I decided to convert to B+W using a Lightroom B+W preset called B+W filter- yellow filter. It did the trick. I also added a graduated filter to get the highlights of the grass under control. Then I finished up with a slight vignette.

I also wanted to let you know that although I haven’t been commenting on any blogs, I have been lurking and enjoying many of your posts. I hope to return to full blogging action in about 3 weeks. Hopefully!

Meet Art…

…he’s my dad. Right now he is 84 and 9/10′s(right dad?) and he’s ready for his 85th birthday next Monday. I say everyday that I hope that I’m as healthy as he is at 85. You look great dad!

My wife, my kids and myself met he and my mom on Easter morning first for church  and then on to breakfast, which turned out great because he was a little cranky due to lack of food but once the omelet and home fries arrived he was a different person. Ahhh, like father like son!

Thanks mom and dad, we had a great morning and are looking forward to the big day next week. Love ya!

Playful…

At least a little fun can be had with all this snow. My daughters had a great time building snow tunnels in the backyard and naturally a snowball fight was eminent. All I said was “Watch out for the camera”.

The Letter R…

…is for Raymond of course!

Yes I know this wasn’t taken in 2011 but who cares. I just got to looking at some of my Christmas shots and this shot of my father in law caught my eye. Plus, who doesn’t like Ray Romano? Even my soon to be 15 year old daughter can tell you about virtually every episode. What’s your favorite episode? Lets hear it….
