Part of my purpose at the arboretum was to use my nifty-fifty to isolate some of the flowers in the garden. This was shot at f2.0 and I love the SDOF. This is straight out of the camera, cropped to square.
Settings: f2.0, 1/4000 sec at 50mm, iso 100
Pure eye candy…this is just spectacular! That shallow depth just makes that beautiful bloom shine in it’s full glory!
nice depth of field for sure. I love how this blurs the background and the flower is perfect.
Love the soft abstract feel to the background, beautiful image! That SDOF is perfect.
Fantastic Mike, it looks like a painting.
looks like a watercolor
Lovely and soft. Great shot!!
Beautiful as usual – but what’s a nifty-fifty? DSLR speak?
Karen the nifty fifty is a 50mm 1.8 lens from Canon. It is one of their best selling lenses and the image quality is outstanding! A fast(1.8) prime lens with fantastic IQ for under $100.
Truly beautiful. The colors and details are outstanding and the bokeh is fabulous. Can’t beaat a 50mm and available light.
Yummy background – you’ve reminded me to use that lens more too.
What Tammy said – pure eye candy 🙂
Beautiful, Mike. I love my 50!
really cool picture, do you edit your pictures a lot?
Just right! Soft and bright at the same time. I like that you left a lot of space around the flower and didn’t crop in close.
